BIOGRAPHY

Tanya Chalkin studied at Chelsea College Of Art and Design and then The London College Of Printing (now known as The London College Of Communication) where she received a BA (Hons) Photography Degree.

Tanya started assisting photographers including Rankin at this time and also worked at Dazed & Confused magazine. Tanya quickly established herself as an exciting young photographer. Her first published shoots, were fashion and portraits for a number of publications including the music magazines MixMag and Ministry Magazine.

Tanya's flare for fashion and portraits became apparent when she started shooting main features for the likes of Arena Hommes Plus, Dazed & Confused, Esquire, FHM Collections, Attitude, and many national newspapers including, The Guardian Weekend magazine, The Independent and The Evening Standard (London).

She has also appeared on a selection of television programmes including Channel 4's Model Behaviour.

As well as becoming a well respected fashion / portrait photographer, Tanya started working on her own images and is the author of the internationally acclaimed and global best selling poster, 'Kiss'. 'Kiss' is now considered to be an iconic image and has attracted the attention of a major Hollywood based production team who are developing a movie inspired by 'Kiss'. Her images are also often used for set dressing in both film and television productions including a new Universal Pictures film currently in production.

'Kiss' was most recently featured as set dressing in Scott's bedroom, in the Universal Pictures blockbuster, Hollywood movie 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World' directed by Edgar Wright and Starring Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin and Jason Schwartzman

Following on from the success of Kiss, Tanya has developed an ever growing worldwide fan base and now has other hugely successful posters in the global market place - Sleeping Beauties, Sirens, Born To Ride, Sixty Nine, Boy and L'Homme as well as best selling calendars for 2006 and 2007 Triumph Motorcycles commissioned Tanya to shoot a 2008 calendar which has become hugely successful and globally recognised. Tanya's 2010 chic, lingerie, calendar entitled 'Secrets' was also a bit hit. Exciting posters taken from the Secrets calendar include Secret Kiss, Bottom, Red Hot, Beauty, Girls and HOT LIPS.

Tanya recently shot Jodie Harsh in the 'Fur Is A Drag' campaign for the organisation PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), as she is strongly opposed to cruelty to animals.

Tanya's creative flare was also noticed by the producers of Viva La Diva, the highly acclaimed all singing all dancing production staring the two internationally acclaimed stars, Darcey Bussell and Katherine Jenkins, who asked her to photograph the production.

Tanya has also been working in the music industry photographing a number of high profile acts for Universal Music and for Warner Records.

In February 2010, Tanya also showed her work in a group show, in Monaco, attended by H S H Prince Albert II Of Monaco, who now owns some of her work.

In summer 2011 Tanya photographed the cast of the hit BBC3 series 'Lip Service'

Tanya is working on a fabulous coffee table book that she aims to publish and release in the near future. Images will include many of her poster images and portraits which will coincide with a gallery exhibition in Los Angeles, New York and London.

Most recently Tanya has been creating exciting, official images in merchandising poster formats for the London 2012 Olympic Games and approved by LOCOG. "I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to create exciting images with a cool, chic, iconic and modern approach to London and for The London 2012 Olympics. It has been extremely important to me as a British Photographer / Image maker"
